Summary: Job Responsibilities: - Team support - Research challenges being encountered by team members with tools and runtime to reduce downtime created by bugs or configuration problems. Track to resolution.- Bug reporting/tracking/fixing - Find and report bugs in code, assets and tools. Research and properly update and assign bugs written by other members of the development team. Identify development resources needed to fix bugs. Track bugs to closure. Check in fixes when appropriate. - Creation of QA documentation - Write up documentation including system reports, test cases and tracking documentation for use by the QA department and Production. - Risk Identification – Evaluate existing and planned systems for trends that threaten larger problems in the future. Utilize debug output from runtime to track resource usage trending. Evaluate trends in the bug database to identify risks. - Build deliveries - Assemble and deliver milestones, demos, and final builds. Assemble and smoke test builds to be sent to third parties, such as publisher QA, 3rd party test groups, and usability. - Creation of Test Levels – Identify systems that can be better tested with Test Levels and either create or gather resources to create them. - Aid in the development of test automation and QA tools – Identify tests in tools and runtime that can be automated, request and track progress of automation tools. Identify areas in which new tools would reduce time spent by QA and increase coverage/efficiency of task performance. - Perform testing of runtime and tools on all platforms using ad-hoc and guided methods for verification of requirements as set for by the development team, the publisher, and the 1st party console manufacturers. - Reproduce and isolate bugs found by publisher QA and other members of the development team. - Aid in the maintenance of internal and/or external bug databases as needed. - Aid in the management and monitoring of all asset and code builds – this includes aiding the tools team in maintaining the build processes, as well as identifying errors in code and asset building in a timely manner. - Liaise between development team and publisher QA Team - Inform publisher QA of critical dates, inform publisher QA of features and systems as they come online, triage bugs from the publisher QA team in the bug database and edit and assign as necessary, inform publisher QA of priorities, provide test cases to publisher QA when necessary - Stable Build Testing - Smoke test code and critical assets prior to release to the rest of the development team. Make determinations based on discovered issues regarding whether or not a given set of code and assets should be released to the rest of the development team. - Crash Report Tracking - Track and report crashes sent by the development and publisher QA teams. Work Experience: - A minimum of 2 years in a software Quality Assurance position Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification: - 2 year degree, technical certification, Certificate in Quality Assurance training program, or equivalent independent study Knowledge/Skills: - Pays close attention to detail.
